After working hard in Kenya to gain recognition as the extraordinary athlete that she is, Loroupe won the New York marathon in 1994 and 1995 and continued on to have an extremely successful career. She used her fame to do good in the world. She was a United Nations Ambassador for Sport, and works with an organization that promotes peace through sports around the world.
