Cabin Counselors

As a camper’s primary caregiver during their two-week stay, counselors are attentive to each camper’s physical, emotional, and social needs, ensuring they feel supported, valued, and inspired. Through Fiver’s Whole Self curriculum, counselors help campers embody core attributes like being a:

  • Friend

  • Individual

  • Valuable Team Player

  • Environmentalist

  • Risk Taker

Cabin counselors play a pivotal role in creating a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for campers. As leaders, mentors, and role models, counselors guide children through daily routines, team-building activities, and character development experiences, fostering personal growth and strong relationships along the way.

The experience offers more than just a summer job—it’s an opportunity to gain transferable skills in leadership, effective communication, time management, behavior management, and youth development best practices.

Counselors build meaningful relationships, become part of the Fiver community, and develop social capital that can extend beyond the camp season. Many counselors are invited to return for additional summers, continuing the connections they’ve fostered with campers and growing within the Fiver network.

Working at Camp Fiver can also be a valuable opportunity to fulfill a field placement requirement for certain academic programs. This must be discussed and arranged with the Camp Director before any approval is given. Reach out to careers@fiver.org with any questions or concerns.
