Foundations Moving our Mission Forward
In June, Fiver was awarded $102,000 from IMPACT100 NYC to build the new SERVE Cabin at Camp Fiver. This building will support the learning needs of our 11th and 12th graders as they prepare for college and the world of work. We broke ground in September and will open the building for use in summer 2022.
In early 2021, with a grant from the Central NY Community Foundation, we began a diversity, equity, and inclusion assessment of our organization. Led by Jennifer Rutledge of Delphi Consultants, Fiver youth, alumni, parents, staff, and volunteers were surveyed and interviewed, and all internal documents and practices were reviewed. We are excited to use the findings to set actionable goals related to this critical work. This funding also allowed us to host a workshop for the central NY community, titled “Power in Unity”. The three hour session was led by Tamala Flack and Deka Dancil, and was held at Camp Fiver.
The Countess Moira Foundation recently gave Fiver a grant to increase our fundraising and program evaluation efforts. So far, we have engaged Brian Saber of Asking Matters to provide fundraising training for our Board of Directors and staff, and have begun data cleanup of our donor database.
SCOPE (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education) and The Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund, have continued their incredible work of making the magic of camp possible and accessible for Fiver youth. In addition to camperships, SCOPE also provided college scholarships for seven graduating seniors and Linda and Michael Schulman from the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund donated a new golf cart to Camp Fiver, the "Beigel Buggy!"
Thank you to these foundations, and to our entire Fiver community of supporters, for your investment in our youth and families.
