Fiver Spotlight: Jalyne G., Class of 2026

At Fiver, we take pride in the accomplishments and growth of our participants over the course of their ten-year journey.

We were happy to welcome one of our outstanding participants, Jalyne G., Class of 2026, to Fiver’s 2024 Annual Benefit to reflect on her last eight years with the program. In her speech, Jalyne shares her journey, highlighting the confidence, resilience, and sense of community she has gained through her experiences with Fiver.

Being a part of Fiver has shown me that there’s a community alongside me, supporting me as i navigate through the different paths of life. I vividly remember the frequent check-in calls I would receive in elementary school asking me how’s school going? Am I making new friends? Who’s my favorite teacher? And all the simple questions that as a 10 year old seem to be consuming my daily life.

Now, a few years later, I welcome the deeper conversations that allow me to better understand myself. From discussing potential career paths to grappling with my teenage emotions and finding my place in the world, I find solace and guidance in the unwavering support of Fiver staff members. Their presence has been a comforting cornerstone in my life, providing me with the reassurance and encouragement needed to pursue my dreams. - Jalyne ‘26
