Weaving’s Back!

For thirteen years, Sherrill Koss taught weaving at camp until her passing in 2018. The weaving program was put on pause for four years.

We were proud to bring Weaving classes back to a new generation of campers this summer. With a new instructor— and redesigned space that we will dedicate as “Sherrill’s Studio” in 2023— we welcomed 182 Fivers to discover the joys of creativity and working with their hands.

We were delighted to welcome Sue Sutherland as our weaving teacher at Camp Fiver.  Sue is continuing Sherrill’s legacy with her own unique blend of kindness and artistry.

In preparation for the relaunch, we hosted a volunteer day this past spring to clean the looms that had been donated to Camp Fiver by Sherrill’s family.  Sherrill’s friends and family, along with local volunteers, rolled up their sleeves to clean looms and sort fabric.  We are grateful to all of the volunteers who helped get the program ready and who continued to volunteer to warp looms between sessions!
