Camp Fiver Updates

Camp Fiver will return to its full two-week in person camp experience this summer! We are thrilled to announce that Wilderness Trips will return this summer thanks to funding from BlackRock Gives. Fiver youth will participate in a three night, four-day back-country camping and hiking trip in the Catskill Mountains where they climb a mountain, prepare their own food, and care for themselves and their peers.

The SERVE Cabin is complete! Thanks to the amazing generosity of the women of Impact100 NYC, SERVE members (11th and 12th grade Fiver participants) will have a designated space to work on college and career goals and reflect on their work experience. Through the generous support of the Hyde and Watson Foundation, Fiver was also able to purchase a new freezer unit for the dining hall, improving our food ordering and storage capabilities so that we can continue to provide healthy meals for campers and staff all summer long.

Finally, Simone Gamble, former Fiver staffer and founder of her consulting firm OAAARS, will be returning to Camp Fiver as a National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) Summer Innovation Fellow. Simone will be revamping the Whole Self Program with a racial equity lens and adding new program components that reflect Fiver’s goals to instill youth with the skills required to be engaged leaders and compassionately confront prejudices and systems of oppression that directly impact their lives.
