Fiver’s Newest Board Members

Fiver welcomed three new board members to the Fiver community, each bringing unique perspectives and experiences to our organization’s leadership.

Michael grew up going to overnight summer camps throughout his childhood, so joining the Fiver community had a lot of personal alignment for him. “I know what a positive influence camp experiences had on my confidence and independence,” Michael says. When asked what excites him about Fiver’s mission, he explained that it's Fiver’s program structure—over the course of ten years— that draws him in. “I am inspired by the thoughtful and creative ways in which Fiver executes its mission. There are many organizations that strive to support children from under-resourced communities, but Fiver is really structured to do this successfully,” Michael explained.

Our other two new board members are no strangers to Fiver, as they are both alumni of the program! Gabriela (Gaby) ‘11 highlighted the importance of giving back to the organization in this capacity as an alumna of the program: “I want to give back to the organization that gave me so much, and continues to give me support and resources! I would like to see the organization continue to grow and continue to offer kids a sanctuary and a team of supporters.”

When asked about his goals while serving on the board, Jonathan explains, “I hope to expand our fundraising efforts through corporate partnerships, doubling down on our college access programs, and building closer integration points between our Alumni Board and Fiver board. I see myself getting involved in the following strategic planning process, helping Fiver build a best-in-class employee experience, and mentoring the next generation of Fiver alum to assume a Fiver board position.”

Please join us in welcoming Michael Gorelick, Gabriela Berroa ‘11, and Johnathan Jean-Pierre ‘11 to Fiver’s Board of Directors.
