Fiver Returns to Camp and Hybrid Programming

Camp may have looked a little different this year, but we had just as much fun!

After eighteen months of isolation and limited access to nature, Camp Fiver was happy to welcome campers in person to our beautiful campgrounds in central New York. Camp may have looked a little different this year, but we had just as much fun! We closed the 2021 summer season with 330 kids attending! Fivers participated in horseback riding, swimming, boating, fishing, public speaking, ethics, health and literacy classes, college access, and much more.

With safety as our top priority, Fiver instituted many new safety measures this year to manage and avoid any spread of COVID-19. Changes included indoor masking, eating all meals outdoors under tents, smaller cabin sizes, vaccinations for all staff, and a robust COVID testing regimen. Fivers acclimated quickly to the "new normal." Our campgrounds came alive with laughter, reconnections, and fun throughout the entire summer.

We also conducted a hybrid virtual and in-person job training program for 62 teens, including both NYC and, for the first time, central NY youth. We also said a Fiverly farewell to our graduating seniors, and for the first time, live-streamed our graduation ceremonies from camp. Be sure to check out our YouTube channel to watch the graduation speeches.

We missed seeing our Fivers in person and are thankful that we were able to reconnect both in our NYC office as well as camp.  Thank you to the entire staff for their tremendous efforts to make this all happen!
