Fivers at Fiver

Did you know that we have six Fiver alumni working on our staff in a full-time or part-time capacity? Why is this so important to us? Because no one knows our mission better than Fiver alumni!

"They fulfilled the ultimate commitment in completing Fiver's ten-year program," says Christie Ko, Executive Director. "That shared, transformational experience gives them a unique perspective. They felt the impact of meaningful relationships between staff and youth, and now they are creating similar experiences for the next generation of Fivers."

Fiver opened its doors to youth in 2000, with our oldest graduates now in their early 30s. Our goal is to have alumni involved in all aspects of Fiver, from seasonal camp staff to full-time leadership roles to members of the board of directors.

Some of our Fiver alumni serving on the staff reflected on the experience and shared some of their goals. Here’s what they had to say:

"I came back to work at Fiver because I want to give back and instill the values and qualities in the current youth and young adults that I work with just like my role models and mentors did for me." - Erick Cooper Jr. ‘13, aka Coop, Alumni Program Manager

"My goals are to start graduate school in the fall of 2022 and to continue to be able to serve and bring positive experiences to our amazing youth and families through simpler and smoother processes!" - Mabel Munoz ’15, Senior HR & Operations Manager

“As I began my career in youth development, I became more appreciative of the work Fiver has done. From planning programs to fundraising, grant writing, and keeping our campgrounds beautiful, the work does not come easy. This knowledge has made me very grateful for the efforts every staff member makes daily to make this organization function.” -Aislee Berenice Nieves ‘14, High School Program Manager
